• This is the information about going from Granada Nicaragua to toSan Jose Costa Rica using a local bus and colectivo.
  • I would recommend to leave as early as possible. The bus from Granada leaves around 6 am

Granada to Rivas cost: 50 C贸rdoba

The bus terminal is located about 20 minutes walk from Parque Central. On Google Maps, there are lots of reviews saying that they try to scam you if you are a foreigner. However, I did not have this experience at this time.

Rivas to Penas Blancas 50 Cordoba

This bus was full and my last so-called chicken bus. They drop you off at the border. You walk a bit to the immigration office. As soon as I got off the bus, there were lots of guys screaming that San Jose or somewhere I don’t know. Essentially, I assume they want to catch people using big shuffles. I was told that I could go to San Jose for $14 and the bus is here (before Nicaragua exit). I decided to use that one instead of going through the border and finding the bus once I passed Costa Rica immigration. That was a mistake. Because I was with a group of people on the bus, I had to go through immigration with them, which ended up in a long line. I think it was much faster to pass the immigration by myself and find the bus after passing Costa Rica Immigration. Nicaragua’s exit was way faster compared to entering Nicaragua. They charge $3 for the exit fee and $1 to enter the immigration facility.

Pernas Blancas to San Jose Costa Rica $14

Now you pass Costa Rica Immigration, it will take you to the San Jose directory. The roads here are good. They stop for lunch and a bath break in the middle. I arrived in San Jose around 5:30, but I was able to walk to the hostel. In the city center, I realized that it is very civilized compared to all the places I went to before. The last place I felt very modern was Guatemala City. I told this friend and they were laughing saying that this is nothing compared to the big city in South America.
